Juniper Networks Chairman and CEO Scott Kriens had some advice to offer the industry during his opening keynote for the second day of Interop: Get it together.

Specifically, Kriens said the industry needs to work with customers to offer the best solution in whatever piece of the networking market they have chosen. Of course it helps that Juniper has several solutions to offer in the traffic-processing piece of the networking market, but Kriens said all companies would do well to help customers, particularly CIOs, deliver better applications, infrastructure, and security to their CEOs.

?We focus on the traffic-processing piece of the market and we attempt to offer the best products in that market. Focus and execute are the keys to being able to do that,? Kriens said.

Kriens added that Juniper?s recent acquisitions and partnerships are aimed at helping CIOs solve problems. Redline Networks, the application acceleration vendor Juniper acquired this week, will help deliver better and faster applications to a diverse and distributed user base, he said. Similarly, the acquisition of Peribit Networks, also announced last week, will help the company provide WAN optimization services to customers, he said. Kreins said both companies, along with Juniper, are currently working together on a project with ESPN to deliver basketball playoff information to end-users. ?It is a lot of data, but because of these products working together, the end-user doesn?t even notice,? he said.

Juniper is not just acquiring companies to complete its vision. The company is tackling the VoIP market by expanding its partnership with Avaya. The two companies on Monday said they plan to enter a strategic alliance that would include joint product development and sales.
