IBM Corp. has integrated Enigma Inc."s 3C Platform into its Automotive Dealer Collaboration portal, the two companies announced Monday, and both plan to jointly market the product to automotive OEMs.

Enigma provides auto mechanics with a dynamic product encyclopedia consisting of integrated service information and parts catalogs, which will be delivered using portlets developed on IBM"s WebSphere Portal technology.

IBM"s Automotive Dealer Collaboration offering, with Enigma"s portlets, is designed to strengthen postsales relationships between OEMs and dealers by automating communications and providing service and repair information. The goal is to help dealerships improve customer service while boosting revenue for the manufacturers, the companies said.

Enigma"s four new portlets allow companies using the IBM Dealer Collaboration Portal to easily search, filter and display parts and service information. In addition, the portlets can help users leverage existing IT investments by tying into other portlets in the IBM Dealer Collaboration Portal.

Advanced features allow companies to use their existing IT systems to improve visibility into parts supplies and enhance their overall parts logistics.
