Happy Thanksgiving!

28.11.2008
Happy turkey day, all you lucky folks across the pond. I'm overseas and turkey-less, so while you'll be sleeping in then waking to lazily baste Butterballs (or , we don't play favorites here at Game On) and savoring the smells of parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme wafting from pans of stuffing, I'll be admiring the lead-colored skies out my flat's bay window here in sunny ol' England. (This is where J.R.R. Tolkien wrote The Lord of the Rings, a book that's full of gloomy gray stuff -- now I know why.)

What are you playing for the next couple days? I'm finally settling down with SSG's to give their new angle a look. I was originally planning to finish Far Cry 2, but the game's re-spawning trick finally quashed the adolescent crush I'd developed lighting brush fires and cooking rather foolish squads of enemies into the open. Ubisoft said Far Cry 2 shucked the original's supernatural vibe, but they lied -- this game is chock full of zombies. Shoot nearly anything, wait a few minutes, then snap, it comes back. It's kind of creepy, but for the wrong reasons.

On an up note, Kharkov handles like a champ under on my MacBook Pro. (An actual computer game where the only system requirement that matters is "Windows," I know!) I've got it up in a 1024 x 768 window on one side, the PDF tutorial on the other, coffee on the desk, and my faux fireplace cranked up from "whispering orange" to "rumbling yellow."

Anyway, off with you. Go relax and recharge, and I'll be back with tales from the shortly.
