EA Sports Planning New IPs

During yesterday's EA Season Opener event, General Manager of Fighting and New IPs Dale Jackson revealed that the publisher is currently developing three new sports franchises.

It's not clear what those new properties will entail; after all, there's a sim on the market for most major sports these days. But Jackson said that it was important that they "don't get hung up on picking a sport and making a sports game."

"My boundary is if I can loosely tie it to sports, I will," Jackson said. "That boundary is really wide."

General Manager of Football Cam Weber revealed that at least one of those games is a football title. He didn't reveal much, except to say that it's "fundamentally different from anything you've done before."

Jackson also hinted that the publisher would like to delve deeper into extreme sports. EA's current stable of extreme sports properties includes the Skate series and the .

"I feel like extreme sports is one area where we can lower the boundaries and get new people to play them," Jackson said.
