Disgaea 3 Gets Updated, Goes to PlayStation Vita

09.08.2011
In an interview with Japanese gaming mag Dengeki PlayStation, publisher Nippon Ichi Software's CEO, Sohei Niikawa, lifted the veil on an enhanced portable port of the popular turn-based strategy-RPG.

Details are still scarce, but this new version, dubbed Disgaea 3 Returns (or possibly "Return"), will hit Sony's highly anticipated handheld with an impressive assortment of new content, including every scrap of DLC that's been released for the original PlayStation 3 release; new "close-up" character art, as seen in Disgaea 4; and four brand new playable scenarios. Niikawa also mentioned that the game will likely make use of the Vita's touchscreen functionality, but didn't mention in what capacity.

Niikawa also mentioned that he'd like to see a working version of the game running at the Tokyo Game Show next month, and that he anticipates the final version to run even faster than its PS3 predecessor. There's no official word on a release date, but based on a now-removed Yahoo listing, Disgaea 3 Returns may very well be a Vita launch title. We'll just have to wait and see.
