Consumer Reports: Fiber best option for high speed Internet

23.01.2009
Consumer Reports, the consumer advocacy magazine, says that getting Internet service via fiber data optic providers Verizon FiOS and AT&T U-verse are the best options for customers looking to bundle Internet, TV and phone service from one company.

The magazine said it surveyed a number of customers served by a wide variety of Internet providers like local cable companies and DSL providers. It found that customers were best served by Verizon FiOS and AT&T's U-verse services, in areas where those were available. In areas where telco-delivered service like those were not available, cable may be the best choice for customers. Cox and Cablevision were well rated, but Comcast received low marks.

DirecTV scored the best marks among all major cable companies and satellite providers for television service. DirecTV is commonly offered as a bundle with DSL and traditional landline phone service.
