Compuware rolls out requirements management upgrade

26.06.2006
Compuware Corp. Monday rolled out a new version of the business requirements management tool it acquired from SteelTrace in April.

The newly dubbed Optimal Trace 4.1 -- formerly called SteelTrace -- includes improved connectivity designed to allow offline work access and easy connectivity once Internet availability is restored, said Fergal McGovern, director of business requirements management at Detroit-based Compuware. In addition, the new version can support connectivity to virtual private networks and intermittent wireless connections.

Optimal Trace 4.1 also includes a new licensing model to support various configurations, offer central management and provide accessibility to all verifiable users seeking access, McGovern said. And it now integrates with Compuware's OptimalJ development tool and QACenter quality assurance software.

"We're focusing on facilitating the interaction of the business and the IT side," McGovern said. "We're really focused on getting the [requirements] capture side of the equation correct." Optimal Trace is available now.
