Software maker Computer Associates (CA) is moving beyond the traditional business enterprise sector as it makes its way to the telecommunications and independent service provider (ISP) market.

'A lot of opportunities are coming up for the telecommunications industry,' said Joy Balmadres, country manager of CA Philippines.

CA South Asia manager for telecommunications and services provider division Owen Gan added that new technologies such as Voice-over-IP (VOIP), digital simulcast, Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), and ISPs continue to drive revenues for the growing telecommunications industry.

'We are also leveraging on the development of convergent telecommunications services in the Philippines such as 3G mobile communications and converged voice and data services,' Gan said.

Another major market CA is currently eyeing is the managed services market where telecommunication infrastructure providers can do the bandwidth and equipment management of small to medium'sized enterprises.

Although enterprise managed services, 3G, and convergent services have only started to emerge in the country, Gan is optimistic that these could be major revenue generators for telecommunications providers.
