Briefly: Washington Post CEO Don Graham joins Facebook board

Facebook gains a new board member next month. Donald E. Graham, CEO and chairman of the Washington Post Company, the parent company of the namesake newspaper as well as Newsweek, the Kaplan test prep company and numerous other holdings.

Like Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Don Graham attended , but Graham actually graduated from the prestigious university. He has been a director at the Washington Post Company since 1974. He was publisher of the paper from 1979 to 2000.

Mark Zuckerberg said that "Don Graham understands how to build and manage an organization for the long term." That may be true, though the newspaper industry has been in fairly dire straights as of late -- the Washington Post Company has managed to make a profit , though this year has been a . Hopefully Graham will be able to help Facebook figure out how to actually make money.

The other members of the Facebook board are Zuckerberg, Marc Andreessen, Jim Breyer of Accel Partners and Peter Thiel of Clarium Capital.
