This year's Blizzcon dates differ slightly from , which took place in late August of 2009. Last year's convention took place just days after the European-based Gamescom convention, which may have caused the two shows to cannibalize each others audiences. Thus far, the late summer/early fall video game fan convention landscape includes Gamescom from August 19-22, 2010 and the Tokyo Game Show from September 16-19. Even though is starting in a matter of hours, Activision Blizzard is trying to make fans aware of the "other" fan-focused gaming convention, as the company announced the dates for Blizzcon 2010--Friday, October 22 and Saturday, October 23. The fifth iteration of Blizzcon will take place at the same location it's been situated in since its 2005 inception--the Anaheim Convention Center.
