The deal will see ASG provide support for MAS's service-desk, desktop, network and server environments, which number about 1000 devices, predominately running Windows.

MAS chief information officer Cameron Crampton said that IT systems played a vital role in enabling MAS to deliver services to the Victorian community.

"Our use of IT assists in clinical care from the moment someone dials 000 through to continuous improvement using evidence-based research," Crampton said. "The IT and telecommunications environment within MAS is a critical function that supports the life saving work of paramedics."

ASG southern region general manager Rob Bild said the deal is valued at US$5 million (US$3.9 million) to $10 million and replaces the incumbent provider ETS.

"We have taken over most of the services previously contracted to ETS and have re-employed their staff under our ASG who were working on the contract," Bild said.
