Apple introduces Editors' Choice to App Stores

Apple has introduced new Editors' Choice and Free App of the Week promotions in its iOS and Mac App Stores, aiming to subtly improve app discovery among the thousands of apps available.

The new Editors' Choice apps are featured on the homepages of both App Stores. At present, the iTunes App Store's Editors' Choice apps are the newly released , Air Mail, Extreme Skater and The Thames: London's Crown Jewel.

On the Mac App Store, the Editors' Choice has been given to Cobook and .

, advertising a Free App of the Week. The tweet reads: "Cut the Rope: Experiments is our #FreeAppoftheWeek. Go to the App Store for your free download." It is not yet clear whether Apple will continue the Free App of the Week promotion every week.
