Adobe extends awards to Malaysian designers

Design solutions firm Adobe Systems has called for more Malaysian entries to its ninth annual Adobe Design Achievement Awards (ADAA).

A company representative said that there were more than 70 Malaysian entries in 2008 and 20 semi-finalists. Malaysian submissions to reach the semi-finals included entries in the Designer/ Developer, Motion Graphics, Illustration, Packaging, Photography, and Print Communications categories.

These included semi-finalists from The One Academy of Communication Design College, the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, the Multimedia University, the University Putra Malaysia (UPM) and the KDU College (Penang Campus).

Adobe senior vice president of marketing, Ann Lewnes, said that the competition for multiple disciplines, is now held in partnership with the International Council of Graphic Design Associations (Icograda).

"The awards ceremony will be held during the Icograda World Design Congress in Beijing, China in October 2009," said Lewnes, "gathering 2,500 delegates from around the globe."

Icograda (International Council of Graphic Design Associations) is the world body for professional communication design. Founded in 1963, Icograda promotes communication designers' vital role in society and commerce. For more information, visit www.icograda.org.
